Company Handbook

Our team is spread across Australia, with Airteamers working in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, and TAS.

Let’s take a look at how we make remote work, well, work, and what helps us thrive together at Airteam!

Flexible working

We’re a fully remote company that values flexibility and trust. You can work from home or a coworking space, and set hours that fit your lifestyle. At the same time, we carefully manage our schedules and commitments to ensure we can collaborate smoothly, support each other, and continue providing the best expertise to our clients.

What this means day-to-day:

  • Choose your hours – Start and finish when it suits you, as long as you’re available for client and team commitments.
  • Work remotely – From home (once you’ve passed our safety check) or from a coworking space.
  • Stay connected – Use Slack, Google calendar, and our 🔐 #air-peoplemovements channel to keep everyone informed of your availability.

What we ask of you:

  • Attend all client and team meetings.
  • Make sure there’s enough overlap with your teammates to collaborate effectively.
  • Keep everyone in the loop about when you’re available or away.
  • Reply to messages and emails within a reasonable timeframe to keep things moving.
  • Develop a regular work routine to support a healthy work/life balance.

We also offer additional flexibility for things like parental responsibilities, caring duties, or disability needs. If you’ve been with us for 12 months or more, you can make a formal request for these arrangements under the National Employment Standards.

🔐 Read our Flexible working policy for complete details on requirements, safety standards, and how to request additional arrangements.

Coworking options

Even though we’re fully remote, we know that sometimes face time or a change of scenery can be really valuable. That’s why we offer flexible coworking options. View our 🔐 coworking policy for full details.

Meeting rooms for collaboration - by request

Need to get the team together for planning, workshops or a collaboration session? Make a request for a meeting room to your manager or the Head of Crew and Culture.

Ad hoc coworking - by request

If you need a change of scenery or a quiet spot to focus for a day or two, you can request access to a coworking space in advance. We’ll reimburse up to $55 per day, depending on the situation and team budget.

Permanent coworking arrangement

If your home setup doesn’t pass our WFH Safety Check, we’ll organise a permanent coworking space near you, and we’ll cover the cost.

Home office setup and safety

🪑 WFH safety check

We don't want you to work with a crick in your neck! In your first month with us, we will go through our work from home safety checklist, ensuring your home office is properly set up, safe and suitable for everyday use. This will be scheduled with our Head of Crew and Culture. The check typically uncovers areas for improvement, and our WFH allowance helps cover the cost of new equipment.

Our safety check follows best practices from Safe Work Australia and is tailored to what works best for you.

During the check, we assess a range of areas, including:

  • Workstation setup
  • Lighting and monitor positioning
  • Equipment safety
  • Physical environment safety
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Security practices
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Professional standards

That’s quite a big list, but it’s all designed to support you in doing your best work, comfortably and safely.

🖥️ WFH Allowance

If you need equipment to make your home office more comfortable or your webcam is fried, you can use your WFH allowance to help cover the cost. You’ll find a full list of what’s covered in our 🔐 WFH allowance policy.

The allowance is $900 in your first year, and $300 each year after that. Typical items include:

  • Monitor
  • Desk and ergonomic chair
  • Mouse and keyboard
  • Ergonomic supports
  • Cable management, and more

If you’re not sure if something is covered, just ask our Head of Crew and Culture.

Mental health and wellbeing

At Airteam, we recognise that mental health, just like physical health, can change over time and isn’t fixed; mental health exists on a continuum. We are constantly working to normalise mental health conversations at work through ongoing learning and development. If you’re experiencing a mental health challenge, we have processes in place to help and make adjustments where needed.

Here’s what support is available to all Airteamers:

  1. Wellness plan: Our Wellness Plan is a simple, practical way to support your mental health at work. If you’d like to complete one, just 🔐 download a copy and reach out to the Head of Crew and Culture or your manager.
  2. Mental Health first aid officers: These team members are your first point of contact if you or someone you know is having a tough time. They’re not therapists, but they can offer initial support and help connect you with professional help. Find out 🔐 who at Airteam is qualified to provide mental health first aid
  3. Employee assistance program: ou can use Uprise to chat confidentially with a licensed healthcare professional. You can book a coaching call or a therapy call for confidential help.
    1. A coaching call is a 30-minute session focused on building your skills and reinforcing what you’ve learned from the digital resources. (Skills Module on the platform).
    2. A therapy call is a 60-minute session for more complex emotional needs, with a focus on therapeutic support.
    3. Review the Uprise FAQs and 🔐 Uprise onboarding webinar for Airteam for more information.
  4. Mental Health Training: MHFA Australia offers courses to learn more about mental health or support others. Just ask the Head of Crew and Culture about booking a spot.
