What will I be working on?

At Airteam, you'll have the opportunity to dive into a diverse range of projects across healthcare, education, government, the startup space and more! Our team gain invaluable experience collaborating with our clients - there’s a lot of product variety. Your work will involve creating brand-new digital products from the ground up and tackling tactical challenges within the design and development of existing digital products.

What tech stacks do you use?

We primarily work with TypeScript/JavaScript and occasionally other languages such as Python. For front-end web projects, we favour React along with Next.js. For mobile apps, we favour React Native and Expo. For back-end APIs, we favour Node.js using Express and Apollo Server. We leverage Amazon Web Services for our project infrastructure, which is defined as code using CloudFormation / CDK.

How can I prepare for an interview?

The most critical aspect of a design or technical interview is showcasing your work. This could be a professional project or a personal passion project. Make sure your project is ready to share with us, and walk us through your thought process, explaining how you approached and solved challenges. Rest assured, we never ask for a copy of your work; we'll review it through a screen share on Zoom.

What’s your remote culture like?

We’re always nurturing our remote culture to maintain an open and supportive work environment while also emphasising the importance of disconnecting from work to enjoy your own life. Trust, transparency, clear communication and autonomy are fundamental to our remote life at Airteam. This stems from our first core value, “Do the right thing”, to build strong trusting relationships across the team. You’ll find out that culture is a great place to be, to learn, and to do awesome work. Feel free to explore our Glassdoor reviews for more insights.

What design tools do you use?

We currently use Miro for workshopping and early ideation and Figma for design. We back these up with tools such as Askable and the Optimal Workshop suite for user research and testing.

How long does the hiring process take?

We have a straightforward hiring process that’s designed to be fair and transparent and is a positive candidate experience. From the initial introduction phone call to extending an offer, it can take as little as 2 weeks. Once you receive an offer, we typically require 3 to 5 days to conduct employment reference checks, verify your Australian work rights, and complete a police check.
