How we reimagined learning and teaching for the modern world
Half of Australia’s teachers leave within their first five years because of increasingly heavy workloads and long hours (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2017).
DoE saw that the student experience wasn’t keeping pace with the requirements of the modern world, and that teachers lacked the resources needed to introduce new practices. They asked us to help them develop teacher-sourced ideas for solutions into a validated design concept.
Together with Fusion Labs, Australia’s leading strategic innovation consultancy, we occupied a school classroom and led a group of teachers through a two-week design sprint to develop and validate their ideas. The result was an interactive map showcasing student’s experiences of local cultural and historical sites, backed by a library of teacher knowledge to help plan 15 weeks worth of lessons in 15 minutes.
