Senior AWS Developer (JavaScript) - Remote in Australia

How this role fits into our awesome remote team

Our development team use JavaScript, serverless principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to build high quality software on AWS.

Our AWS developers are crucial to the successful deployment and stability of our digital products. You take a methodical approach to solving problems, bringing DevOp’s expertise and foresight to managing our products on AWS. You are responsible for designing and implementing reliable, scalable and fast IaC solutions that support modern distributed microservices hosted on AWS for our clients.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team comprising front end, back end and DevOps, including machine learning using Python, Django, JavaScript, node, react, react native and AWS. You enjoy being a part of a team of experts with a culture of ownership with a bias for action. 

With no two days the same - you thrive on variety and new challenges. You will collaborate with a diverse group of clients and differing digital products. 

In this role you will be

  • Working as part of a team with our Delivery Manager, UXers and other software engineers.
  • Developing software using JavaScript. This could be serverless using Lambda or for deployment on ECS.
  • Working on CloudFormation templates, with an emphasis on simplicity, scalability, and security
  • Writing Infrastructure as Code
  • Problem solving
  • Automating and improving repetitive processes
  • Participating in design meetings, daily standups
  • Helping our Delivery Manager and clients get the best outcomes
  • Contribute to projects where the overall objective is to deliver high-quality software on time
  • Helping to grow and improve how the team operates by building upon processes, templates, and ways of working

Must have’s for this role

  1. 4 years+ in a DevOps or cloud developer role with expertise in AWS, IaC, JavaScript
  2. A strong understanding of AWS. We are an AWS Select partner and offer AWS training and certification - a bonus if you are already certified!
  3. A strong grasp of microservices, serverless, DevOps practices, ECS / Fargate
  4. You are a self-starter, highly organised and have strong communication skills to thrive in a distributed team.
  5. Experience working directly with clients.
