Welcome Nick and Kyamī!

We'd like to welcome our newest hires Kyami and Nick to the team. It's fantastic to have you on board! We asked them a few questions and here's what they said...

Nick

Where did you grow up and where do you live today?

I was born and raised in Perth, WA. I have lived here most of my life too. I did however spend 2 years working in Genoa, Italy. My grandparents on my mum’s side are both Italian and it was great to experience the Italian lifestyle.

What made you choose a career in technology?

I’ve always been a bit of a computer geek and tinkerer to my own and my families detriment. It was probably on the 3rd reinstall of Windows 98 that my parents started making me fix the problems that I had caused attempting to “tweak” the family computer. I had a Pokemon Red & Blue tips and tricks website when I was about 10 that I built using Macromedia Dreamweaver. So, I guess you could say I’ve always had a natural interest in tech.

What programming language has been made to make developers happy?

I have really enjoyed transitioning projects from Javascript to Typescript. Inbuilt type checking has made my workflow so much easier. The more sanity checks I can implement the better.

Sum up, in 4 words, the life of a developer?

Code, Coffee, Cry, Celebrate.

Kyami

Where did you grow up and where do you live today?

I grew up in the Hornsby area, which is in far north Sydney. Today I live in Willoughby, which is still north of Sydney. I didn't move far.

What made you choose a career in technology?

It was probably because it was something I enjoyed from a young age. I like the idea of making machines do my bidding.

What programming language has been made to make developers happy?

Rust. I believe that's got a strong future. It's as powerful as C, yet easier to read.

Sum up, in 4 words, the life of a developer?

It worked on Friday!
